Russia confirms attacks on defense division in Kiev
“All designated targets were successfully hit,” the ministry reported, emphasizing that the strikes were aimed solely at military-related objectives and not civilians.
Earlier, Ukrainian officials had reported strikes not only in Kiev but also in the Odessa Region, resulting in 19 fires, two deaths, and 13 injuries. In Kiev, damage was reported in multiple districts, including to non-residential buildings and a business center that was formerly a British visa office. However, some reports indicate the true target may have been the Artyom military plant located nearby.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky described the attack as one of the largest on Kiev to date, alleging it involved 315 drones and seven missiles. He criticized the U.S. for not doing enough to pressure Russia and called for decisive action from Washington.
The strike follows a recent escalation in Ukrainian drone operations inside Russian territory. Moscow has accused Ukraine of carrying out attacks on railway lines and airbases, some of which reportedly host nuclear-capable bombers, and claims these are efforts to undermine peace negotiations.
