GOP Senators Applaud Trump’s Strategy
On Wednesday, President Trump told reporters that he had not reached a conclusion regarding military intervention, noting: “I’d make the decision one second before.”
His uncertain position—whether intentional or stemming from his reputation for being unpredictable and impulsive—was met with approval from Republican legislators, many of whom reaffirmed his cautions regarding Iran’s pursuit of nuclear capabilities, as reported by a news agency.
Senator Lindsey Graham, a veteran proponent of military strength, expressed support for Trump’s readiness to use force if diplomatic efforts collapse.
“Either you want them to have a nuclear weapon, or you don’t,” Graham stated. “And if you don’t, if diplomacy fails, you use force.”
Similarly, Senator John Kennedy underscored the severity of the situation, asserting: “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, or the ability to deliver a nuclear warhead, period.”
He voiced unwavering backing for Trump’s handling of the matter, describing it as “unconditional.”
Senator Mike Rounds acknowledged that Israel might be sufficiently equipped to address the threat independently, but emphasized that the United States should still maintain military alternatives “available to the president in exercising his authority as the commander-in-chief.”
Despite concerns among segments of the conservative grassroots about potential foreign entanglements, Republican senators like Kevin Cramer showed no apparent reservations.
