Israeli Attack Kills Senior IRGC Commander
The IRGC’s public relations department confirmed that Mohammad Taqi Yousefvand, who led the Basij’s Intelligence Protection division, was "martyred" on Monday during one of several missile attacks carried out by Israel.
The statement revealed that multiple sites across the Iranian capital were targeted on Monday. Yousefvand, originally from Lorestan province in western Iran, is scheduled to be buried on Wednesday in his hometown of Selseleh County, according to the IRGC commander.
His death occurred just one day after Iran and Israel reached a ceasefire agreement, bringing to an end 12 days of hostilities ignited by a sudden Israeli offensive on various Iranian cities starting June 13.
The assaults resulted in over 400 fatalities, including prominent military leaders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, with the majority of casualties occurring in Tehran.
In response, Iranian forces launched missile and drone strikes against Israeli cities, such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, escalating the conflict further before the ceasefire was established.
