EU’s Kaja Kallas: U.S. Russia Agreement Must Involve EU, Ukraine
(MENAFN) European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized on Sunday that any agreement reached between the United States and Russia must explicitly include Ukraine and the EU, as both nations gear up for potential ceasefire negotiations concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“Any deal between the U.S. and Russia must have Ukraine and the EU included, for it is a matter of Ukraine's and the whole of Europe's security,” Kallas stated firmly.
She also announced plans to hold a virtual meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday to determine “our next steps” in response to the evolving diplomatic efforts.
The upcoming talks will mark the first face-to-face meeting since 2021 between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. The two leaders are expected to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire in Ukraine during this critical dialogue.
