More than seven hundred civilians get killed in Yemen by Israel in 2025
(MENAFN) Houthi-run media reported that 776 people were either killed or wounded in northern Yemen during the first half of 2025 due to airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel. Most casualties were women and children in the capital Sanaa, the Red Sea port of Hodeidah, and the northern provinces of Saada and Amran.
The report included 70 Ethiopian migrants who died in a U.S. airstrike on a detention center in Saada province on April 28. It did not provide a detailed breakdown between fatalities and injuries, and the figures could not be independently confirmed. The strikes reportedly targeted airports, seaports, power and fuel facilities, and industrial sites.
In May, U.S. air operations against Houthi positions were paused following an Oman-brokered agreement, in which the Houthis pledged to stop attacking U.S. vessels in the Red Sea.
Despite the halt in U.S. strikes, the Houthis have continued to launch long-range ballistic missiles and drones at Israel since November 2023, in support of Palestinians during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. Most of these attacks have reportedly been intercepted.
