Senate Advances Bill Requiring Release of Epstein Files

(MENAFN) The US Senate on Tuesday approved—through unanimous consent—a House-originated proposal compelling the Justice Department to reveal all unclassified documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The action mirrors the House’s overwhelming support, where the measure passed by a 427–1 margin.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer obtained unanimous agreement to move the Epstein Files Transparency Act forward immediately upon its arrival from the House. Just hours after its passage in the lower chamber, Schumer confirmed, "The Senate has now passed the Epstein bill as soon as it comes over from the House," during remarks on the Senate floor.

With this step completed, the legislation proceeds to President Donald Trump’s desk for his endorsement.

Prior to the Senate’s approval, Trump dismissed worries concerning the pace of the upper chamber’s action on the House-approved legislation.

He indicated that the timing was irrelevant to him, provided Republicans continued concentrating on what he characterized as a series of recent policy victories. As he stated on his Truth Social platform, "I don’t care when the Senate passes the House Bill, whether tonight, or at some other time in the near future. I just don’t want Republicans to take their eyes off all of the Victories that we’ve had."

At present, it remains uncertain precisely when Trump will sign the bill.
