Iraqi Militias Carries Out 28 Strikes on 'Enemy Bases'

(MENAFN) The Islamic Resistance in Iraq — an umbrella organization uniting Iraq's pro-Iranian militia factions — announced Monday evening that it had conducted 28 separate military operations targeting what it described as "enemy bases" in Iraq and across the wider region since daybreak.

In a formal statement, the group said the operations deployed "dozens of missiles and drones" against multiple installations over the course of the day. No additional information regarding specific targets or resulting casualties was disclosed in the brief communiqué.

The sweeping wave of strikes unfolded against a backdrop of sharply deteriorating regional security, ignited by the joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Iran on Saturday. That attack prompted Tehran to retaliate with successive waves of missiles and drones directed at Israel and American assets scattered throughout the Middle East — a chain of escalation that has since drawn in multiple armed factions across the region.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq's latest operations signal a broadening of the conflict beyond its original flashpoints, with proxy forces aligned with Iran increasingly mobilizing in parallel with Tehran's own military responses. Independent confirmation of the group's claims has yet to be established.
