Russia Accuses U.S., Israel of Attempting to Undermine Iran-Arab Ties

(MENAFN) Moscow has accused Washington and Tel Aviv of deliberately undermining diplomatic reconciliation efforts between Tehran and its Arab neighbors, following a dramatic escalation of military hostilities across the Middle East.

Russia's Foreign Ministry issued the charge on Sunday, expressing deep alarm over what it described as a dangerous intensification of armed conflict stemming from what it called aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.

"It has become clear that, in addition to regime change in Iran using the most unscrupulous means, such as assassinating the leadership of a sovereign state, Washington and Tel Aviv are attempting to disrupt the process of normalizing relations between Iran and its Arab neighbors," the ministry said.

Moscow called on all involved parties to immediately halt military action and pursue diplomatic channels instead, urging a political resolution to outstanding disputes.

The ministry also directed sharp criticism at an attack on an educational facility, stating: "The attack on a girls' school in the Iranian city of Minab, which killed dozens of innocent children, deserves our strongest condemnation."

The statement drew a firm line against strikes on non-military targets across the region: "Any attacks on civilian targets -- whether in Iran or Arab countries -- are unacceptable and must be completely ruled out."

The diplomatic rebuke follows a major military offensive launched Saturday by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, in which several senior Iranian officials were killed — among them Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran responded swiftly, launching waves of drone and missile strikes against Israeli territory, American installations, and multiple Gulf states.
