Russia States Internet Limitations Will Last ‘As Long As Necessary

(MENAFN) Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday that Russia’s internet restrictions will remain in place “as long as necessary to ensure citizens’ safety.”

Asked about the duration of the measures, Peskov emphasized that the main priority is public security and assured that the restrictions comply with current legislation. He acknowledged that the limitations create challenges for businesses and said relevant agencies should address these to minimize economic losses.

The restrictions follow a law passed by Russia’s parliament granting the Federal Security Service authority to block internet access. Currently, mobile internet is reported to function poorly, with stable connections only available via Wi-Fi.
