Zelensky Meets King Abdullah II to Explore Security Partnership
Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s willingness to collaborate on defending against drone and missile attacks. He told the US social media platform X: “From our own experience, we know that without a unified system, it is simply impossible to establish comprehensive protection of people and critical infrastructure.”
He added that Ukraine has developed such a system after five years of defending against constant strikes from Russia, including attacks using Iranian drones: “We have such a system, because for the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale war, we have been forced to defend ourselves against constant Russian strikes, including those carried out using Iranian drones.”
Zelenskyy stressed that sharing Ukraine’s expertise should also strengthen the country itself, noting that many nations in the region have sought Ukrainian assistance in countering Iranian drones since the United States and Israel launched operations against Iran on Feb. 28, which have killed over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global trade and aviation.
Zelenskyy recently visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates. During the Qatar visit, Ukraine signed a long-term defense agreement, while in the UAE, discussions focused on defense cooperation with President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
