Zelenskyy in Jordan for Talks on Security Issues with King Abdullah II
Announcing his arrival via Telegram, Zelenskyy outlined the central thrust of the visit, framing it as a critical moment for collective action among Ukraine's regional partners.
"The most important thing is security, and it is important that all partners make the necessary efforts. Ukraine is making its contribution. We have important meetings ahead of us," he said.
Zelenskyy disclosed that since Israel and the US launched a military offensive against Iran on Feb. 28 — an operation that has killed more than 1,340 people to date, among them then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — a growing number of regional governments have turned to Kyiv for expertise in countering Iranian unmanned aerial threats.
Iran has responded with sustained drone and missile salvos aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military forces, leaving a trail of casualties and infrastructure damage while sending tremors through global markets and disrupting international aviation routes.
The Jordan stop follows Zelenskyy's visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, where the same security agenda dominated discussions. In the aftermath of that trip, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha revealed that a new, unnamed country had formally joined the PURL program — a NATO-backed initiative launched last July through which allied nations co-fund the purchase of US weapons and military equipment for Ukraine.
The full name of the program — Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List — underscores its strategic importance as Kyiv works to sustain and expand its arsenal amid ongoing conflict with Russia.
