Provided by AGPAccording to reports, the demand was included in a letter addressed to police authorities and later published Monday by Beyadenu, a far-right group that promotes Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa compound.
Most of those who signed the request are members of the right-wing Likud party headed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been wanted by the International Criminal Court since 2024 over allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the war in the Gaza Strip.
Among the Likud ministers who backed the request were Defense Minister Israel Katz, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Health Minister Haim Katz, Energy Minister Eli Cohen, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, Sports Minister Miki Zohar, Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli and Innovation Minister Gila Gamliel. Minister in the Finance Ministry Zeev Elkin from the New Hope faction also joined the appeal.
The letter additionally carried the signatures of 10 Likud lawmakers and three legislators from the far-right Religious Zionism party led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
Reports noted that three ministers had already signed a similar request last week, while Israeli Army Radio previously indicated that police were expected to reject the proposal.
