Provided by AGPChristian Schmidt said he had made a personal decision to end his mandate under the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, noting that his appointment had been confirmed by a decision of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in 2021.

Schmidt’s announcement comes as Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to face what he described as a growing crisis in governance and institutional effectiveness.
