Provided by AGPAccording to a statement from Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry, Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman al-Mashaan delivered an official note of protest to Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Totonji regarding what it described as an “armed infiltration” involving IRGC-linked individuals.
The ministry condemned the incident as a “hostile act,” urging Iran to immediately and unconditionally halt such actions. It also held Tehran fully responsible for what it called a “blatant violation” of Kuwait’s sovereignty, international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
Kuwait further stated that it reserves the right to defend itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter and to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, national security, citizens, and residents.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said four individuals allegedly affiliated with the IRGC were arrested while attempting to enter the country by sea.
A news agency reported that the suspects admitted during questioning to belonging to the IRGC and claimed they had been assigned to infiltrate Bubiyan Island using a rented fishing vessel in order to carry out what were described as “hostile acts against Kuwait.”
