In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the continuing civilian casualties in the region and called for restraint and compliance with international humanitarian law.
“Bangladesh condemns in the strongest possible terms the heinous attack by Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon yesterday, which resulted in the tragic killing of two Bangladeshi nationals.”
The ministry confirmed that the victims were Shafiqul Islam and Md. Nahidul Islam Nahid, both originally from Bangladesh’s southeastern Satkhira district.
Officials said Bangladesh’s embassy in Lebanon is coordinating with local authorities to complete procedures for the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.
The statement also reiterated Dhaka’s broader concern over ongoing violence in the region, urging all sides to avoid further escalation and protect civilian lives.
